Destination Description

Canada is one of the largest countries on earth yet has a relatively small population partly because of its northern climate making much of the land have very long cold winters and few opportunities to grow crops etc. Its beauty is famed and its wild untamed areas offer opportunites to see northern species as they were in previous eras. With an extensive coastline on two seaboards there are great places to see seabird colonies and waders. Migration is a great attraction to birders, in particular the Spring passage across the Great Lakes system where many thousands of birds are channeled through a small area such as at point Pelee.
